On 16 October 2015 WISC and the “Mexican International Studies Association” (MISA) organized a one-day workshop on “The Current State and Future of IR Studies in the Global South” in the context of the Annual MISA Conference 2015 in Cancun, Mexico. A joint “Call for Papers” was issued and eleven applications for participation were received from scholars from around the world. Six were jointly selected.
The Workshop generated several ideas for how to pursue additional projects for intensifying intellectual collaboration between IR scholars in the “Global South” and the “Global North”. Besides the official report two participants, Jessica De Alba-Ulloa and Ralf Leiteritz, volunteered to share their “personal summaries” of the workshop.

Workshops took place in Cancún in October 2015 and in Delhi in January 2016. Five “Exploratory Research Workshops” will be sponsored in the context of WISC’s 5th Global International Studies Conference on 30 March 2017 at National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei (Taiwan).
In 2017 and 2018 two fully funded International Workshops for Early Career Researchers on the theme “World Order and Peace. International Politics in the 21st Century in a Global Perspective” will be organized in the Global South. A “Call for Applications” has been issued. The deadline is March 13th 2017.
