The Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) is part of the University of Ljubljana. Established in 1961 as the School of Political Sciences it has grown into one of the largest academic units of the University of Ljubljana, with over 5,000 students. It offers over 40 different study programmes at both undergraduate and graduate levels, ranging from Political Science and International Relations to Sociology, Communication, Cultural Studies, Informatics and Journalism

The FSS has a long tradition in IR scholarship. The Chair of International Relations, established in 1963, will celebrate its 45th Anniversary in 2008.

The Faculty of Social Sciences also has a large research unit – the Institute of Social Sciences. The FSS has become well integrated into international networks of research and higher education. It hosts over 150 events a year, many of them include participation of scholars and practitioners from abroad. It is very lively during the summer months as well, with an increasing number of summer schools and conferences taking place. The FSS is well equipped to host such events. It went through a complete renovation in the period 2001-2006. It has a complete service infrastructure. Within the Faculty's premises, there are computer rooms, a student restaurant and several cafeterias, photocopying service, a cash machine etc. Near the FSS, there are shops and a few more restaurants (5-10 minutes of easy walk). The FSS can offer 26 rooms of different size (from 25 to 280 seats) plus a big Convention Room for about 500 people. All rooms are equipped with audio-video facilities and connection to the Internet. The FSS has access and facilities for the disabled people. The FSS offers ample space for registration facilities, book expositions etc. There ia also an in-house parking garage, and there is ample space around the FSS available for parking.
In short, the FSS is ready to offer you every comfort for a successful participation at the WISC conference.
