We are pleased to announce that owing to the generosity of the Carnegie Corporation of New York we are able to offer several grants for scholars from African and Central Asian countries interested in participating at the 2nd Global International Studies Conference, to be held on 23-26 July 2008 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. A typical grant covers only the following costs: travel, lodging, and a conference fee. A small per diem is going to be provided.

To be considered for a grant, you must have an accepted paper, which will be confirmed to us by the Programme Chair, and be a full-time employee, or a doctoral student, at a higher education and/or research institution.

If your application has been successful, you must, as soon as possible, apply and obtain a visa to enter Slovenia.

You must also be aware that:

1. the grant does not cover any insurance costs – it is the sole responsibility of an applicant to obtain appropriate insurance for traveling and staying abroad;
2. the grant covers the dates between 23 and 27 July 2008 only;
3. it is your responsibility to apply and obtain a valid visa to enter Slovenia. For details, please go to http://www.mzz.gov.si/en/visa_information/. Without a valid visa you will not be able to use the grant;
4. your ticket will be paid by the grant administrator. Except for per diem, which will be distributed on spot, there will be no cash given. If possible, make sure you have some cash of your own when travelling to Slovenia (the currency in Slovenia is Euro);
5. the grant covers only economy flights; you should seek out the most convenient and cheapest flights to and from Ljubljana – this may be of an advantage to you in the consideration of your application.

You must supply all the requested items in the application form. You may apply only after you have submitted a paper proposal to the Programme Chair, or your application will not be considered.

Financial details must be given in Euro. 

The form must be sent to wiscgrants@fdv.uni-lj.si. In the SUBJECT line, please type “Carnegie Grant Application (add your Last and First Name)”. This will make sure that your e-mail, with the attachment, is going to be proceeded smoothly.

The deadline for submitting the applications is 3 December 2007. Successful applicants will be informed about the award of the grant on or before 11 February 2008. We regret that those applicants who will not have heard from us by that date have not been successful.
