Dear visitors, |
|
It is my pleasure to welcome you, on behalf of the Faculty of Social
Sciences, to the web page of the Global International Studies Conference, the event
which we are proud to host. I see this conference as a genuine contribution of
scholars from all over the world to discuss issues that are of major concern of every
human being, such as security, human rights, or environment. I should like to add
that the Faculty of Social Sciences has a long tradition of openness to scholars from other countries. Numerous students from abroad, especially from the developing world, have
graduated here. The Global International Studies Conference adds to our tradition. I very much look forward to it and I hope that attending the conference will be a rewarding professional experience for all of you. We, for our part, will work to the best of our ability to make the conference a memorable and enjoyable event in every possible respect.
Sincerely,
Anton Grizold |

Dear Colleagues, |
|
Some of you may recall with pleasure the intellectual stimulation, marvellous surroundings and generosity of our hosts when we met for the First Global Conference of International Studies in Istanbul in August 2005. One way or another people had a sufficiently good time to encourage WISC to organise a Second Conference which will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia in July 2008. The preparations are now well-advanced and you can propose individual papers, a panel or a set of linked panels around a theme. But all work and no play can make Jack or Jill a dull boy or girl and so I would encourage you to sample the delights not just of Ljubljana with its fairy tale castle on the hill but of the region, be it the Adriatic coast, Venice or the mountains around Bled.
First conferences have something of a cachet but second ones can build on the steep learning curve that we climbed as organisers. So we hope that you will join us in the summer of 2008 for intellectual exchanges and stimulation mixed with some of the delights of mountains, sea and wonderful cities.
Yours sincerely,
John Groom |

Dear colleagues, |
|
On behalf of the Central and East European International Studies Association, I wish to encourage you to participate in the next Global International Studies Conference, to be held in Ljubljana in July 2008. The decision of the WISC to entrust the organization of this conference to the CEEISA has been accepted by the Association with a great pride. However, we are very much aware, and we want everyone to know, that the WISC conference is a collective venture of all the members of the WISC network. Organization of workshops, registration, book exhibition, contribution of specialized panels, stimulating scholars from the region to come to the conference, seeking for funds to sponsor those scholars who cannot afford to come, etc., all these efforts have been made not by a single WISC member, but by the WISC membership as a whole. This is what makes the WISC so unique. This is why we are so proud to be part of the network.
Welcome to Ljubljana!
Zlatko Šabič |
